TEAM CANADA WINS ANOTHER GOLD IN 12 and UNDER TEAM FIGHTING!!!

Team Canada not only dominated the Adult Team Fighting divisions, but they also garnered a Gold in 12 and Under Girls Team Fighting as well.

Congratulations go out to the Canadian team consisting of Abby McMann, Jennifer Liu and Jordyn Leighton – all hailing from Ottawa, Ontario and Douvris Martial Arts.  Great work, ladies!  The future is bright with such talented young competitors and hopefully one day, they will follow in the footsteps of their Adult counterparts to garner another Gold in the future!

TEAM CANADA WINS WOMEN'S TEAM FIGHTING GOLD!!!

Once again, Canada proves that it is the haven which breeds the Sport's top Women point fighters.

This year's Women’s team consisted of a powerhouse conglomeration of Canada's top talents which included (pictured from left to right) Maeghan (Cotterill) Mistafa from Alberta, Chelsey Nash, Connie Baker, Elyse Gorrell and Kelsey Friedlander all from Ontario.  In a thrilling battle at the WKC World Championships in Cadiz, Spain, the Ladies outpointed an equally formidable Team Ireland and brought home the coveted Gold Medal back to Canadian soil.

CHELSEY NASH - WKC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS OVERALL FIGHTING CHAMPION

Congratulations to CHELSEY NASH for capturing the first ever Overall Women’s Point Fighting Title at the 3^rd WKC World Championships held in Cadiz, Spain on November 5, 2011.

The much anticipated duel between Nash and Top American fighter Morgan Plowden resulted in Nash blitzing her way to a 23 to 11 victory.  This victory solidifies and validates why she is considered Sport Karate’s Top Female Point Fighter to date.  Team Canada is proud of her accomplishments and is honoured to have her on the team!  Chelsey’s next stop is the WAKO World Championships in Dublin, Ireland to be held from November 21 to 27, 2011.  We wish Chelsey the best of luck and hope she brings home the Gold once again!

The hours of diligent and dedicated training definitely paid off!!!
3rd WKC World Karate/Kickboxing Championships
4x Gold Medalist and World Champion (18+ and 35+ Traditional Kata, 18+ Chinese and 18+ Freestyle)
3x Silver Medalist (35+ Traditional and Creative Weapons, Traditional Team Kata)
2x Bronze Medalist (18+ Korean and 18+ Traditional Weapons)

To top all off, MY PARENTS were at hand to witness it all! Like life, my competitive career has come to a full circle and things end exactly like the way they began - with them by my side! They have been my main supporters and my #1 fans during my entire 23 year competitive career.

To everyone who has been cheering on the sidelines, to the SJB staff and students back in Hamilton and to all the #TeamImaginASIANites who rocked the Black, White and the Red, I thank you for your timeless support through all of this!

So the Eliminations are now complete and here are my standings so far...

Overall, I will be in NINE (9) FINALS on Friday (all my events entered)

Currently in the LEAD in 5 categories: 18+ Hard Traditional Forms, 35+ Traditional Forms, 18+ Musical, 18+ Chinese and Traditional Team Kata with Kristen McCord.

Tomorrow is where it all counts!!!  GO FOR GOLD #dominASIAN

2011 WKC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - CADIZ, SPAIN (pre-game day!)

Well, first off...  I've been here for two days now WITHOUT a reliable Internet connection so posting regular updates will be nearly impossible.  However, seeing that I FINALLY got connected, this will be my first update!

After a seemingly long 9 hour journey which included stops (adventures) in London Heathrow, Madrid and then to Jerez de la Fontrera, I finally got to my hotel lobby.  Upon my arrival, many of my Team WKC Canada members were there with their game faces on and ready for action.

Today will be Day 1 of Forms eliminations and I will be entering 8 individual divisions plus 1 Team Forms division with Kristen McCord.  After scoping out the competition, the 18+ Weapons divisions and the 35+ Traditional divisions will definitely be deep with several of the World's finest vying for Gold.
